Arc Raiders skill reset and respec guide
Learn when to reset Arc Raiders skills, how Expedition points affect builds, and how to test respec routes before spending coins.

Before you reset your Arc Raiders skill tree, save the build you have now. Then test the replacement. A respec is worth it when it fixes a real problem, not when one raid annoyed you.
Updated May 2026: skill point totals and Expedition rewards have changed across patches. Check the current in-game reset UI before spending coins.
Fast answer
If your current patch offers coin-based skill reset, work out the cost first. If you are rebuilding around Expedition bonus points, check your real point cap before copying a guide.
Use the builder first:
- 1Save your current build.
- 2Create the new version.
- 3Compare branch totals.
- 4Decide whether the difference is worth paying for.
Should you respec?
Answer these before touching your in-game tree.
1. Did your playstyle change?
Respec is usually worth it if you changed from:
- loot runner into PvP
- solo survival into squad pressure
- starter build into endgame build
- balanced setup into a specialized role
If your playstyle did not change, a full reset may be overkill.
2. Are you using the right point cap?
A build made for 91 points will not work cleanly at 76 points. If you gained Expedition bonus points, your old build may be outdated. If you have not gained those points yet, copying a high-end route can make your current build feel incomplete.
Use the point total you actually have now.
3. Is the problem the tree or the raid?
Do not respec just because one raid went badly.
Respec if the build repeatedly fails at the same thing:
- you cannot escape fights
- you cannot carry enough value
- stamina keeps failing during rotations
- shield weight feels punishing
- your solo route has no recovery tools
If the issue is route knowledge or taking bad fights, a new tree will not magically fix it.
4. Are you cutting a comfort skill?
Many bad respecs happen because players chase a new build and accidentally remove a comfort skill.
Before resetting, check whether the new build removes:
- your stamina core
- crouch or stealth tools
- carry weight support
- field crafting
- fight recovery
If you use a skill every raid, do not cut it just because a creator build skips it.
5. Is the difference big enough?
If the new build changes only one or two low-impact points, wait. Save the idea and keep testing.
Respec makes the most sense when the branch identity changes clearly.
When respec is worth it
You are moving into PvP
If your old build was made for quiet looting, it may not have enough Mobility or Conditioning for repeated fights. A PvP respec can make sense when you are actively contesting players.
Good direction to test:
- more Mobility
- more Fight or Flight style recovery
- enough Survival to keep raid value
You finished an Expedition reward target
Expedition bonus points can change the shape of a finished build. A 76-point version and a 91-point version should not be identical.
Use the extra points to strengthen the build you already like. Rebuild from scratch only if the old route was already wrong.
Your branch split is clearly wrong
If you invested heavily into a branch that does not match your playstyle, respec can save the build.
Examples:
- too much Survival for a player who only wants PvP
- too much Conditioning before basic movement is solved
- too much Mobility with no loot or recovery value
You copied the wrong build
Creator builds are useful only when they match your point cap and playstyle. If you copied a squad PvP setup as a solo loot player, a reset may be worth it.
When to wait
You are still learning the game
Early mistakes are normal. If you have not identified a repeated problem, keep playing and save build ideas first.
A patch or Expedition change is close
If a major update is near, wait unless your current build is unplayable.
You are missing too many points
Do not force a high-end build at a low point cap. Create a starter version instead.
You have not tested the replacement
Never reset into a build you have not fully planned.
Expedition points matter
Arc Raiders long-term builds can change through Expedition rewards. Official updates have adjusted requirements and rewards across seasons, including extra skill points.
Useful planning targets:
| Point target | Planning use |
|---|---|
| 76 | Base skill tree planning |
| 81 | Base plus one full bonus set |
| 86 | Base plus two full bonus sets |
| 91 | High-end Expedition planning as of May 2026 |
If your build guide or creator page uses a higher number than your account has, copy the core first and delay the luxury points.
Save your current build first
Before any reset, recreate your current build in the builder and save the URL.
That gives you a rollback. If the new version feels worse, you can rebuild the old route instead of trying to remember every point from memory.
Respec templates
PvP Respec
Goal: better fights, better rotations, better pressure.
Prioritize:
- Mobility core
- Fight or Flight
- Used To The Weight
- Turtle Crawl if your route supports it
- enough Survival for loot value
Solo Survival Respec
Goal: stay alive, loot efficiently, extract with value.
Prioritize:
- Agile Croucher
- Looter's Instincts
- Broad Shoulders
- Revitalizing Squat
- Marathon Runner
Balanced squad respec
Goal: useful in many raids without hard-specializing.
Prioritize:
- balanced branch split
- movement core
- carry and utility support
- fight recovery
Tfue-style balanced builds are a good baseline for this approach.
The rule
Do not ask, "Can I reset?" Ask, "What exact problem will this reset solve?"
If the new build has a clear answer, plan it in the builder and make the switch. If not, save your coins and keep testing.
FAQ
Can you respec skills in Arc Raiders?
Skill reset behavior has changed across versions and may depend on the current patch. Check your in-game skill tree UI first, then use the builder to plan the replacement before spending resources.
How much does a skill reset cost?
Some current community tracking and site FAQ data reference coin-based reset costs per point, but this should be verified in-game because balance and Expedition systems can change.
Do Expeditions affect skill points?
Yes. Official Expedition rewards can include extra skill points, which means your long-term build may have a higher point cap than your starter build.
Should beginners respec early?
Usually no. Beginners should first use the builder, identify a repeated problem, and only reset when the new route is clearly better.
